As the founder of Myland USA, Heidi has provided the leadership that has guided Myland USA through a dynamic and continually evolving business environment. In the early 1990s, many companies were hesitant to consider manufacturers in China as potential suppliers for high precision components and products. Guided by determination and perseverance, along with a deep understanding of the business benefits that its clients could derive from sourcing in China, Heidi successfully nurtured the growth and development of Myland. Today, Myland's clients speak with admiration for her business sense, attention to detail, and integrity in serving their needs. She is fluent in Chinese, and is recognized in the U.S. community she now calls home, as an authority on China and in Doing Business in China.

Shannon's research, product development, and manufacturing expertise has been a driving force in Myland's ability to effectively interface with our clients' engineering, quality assurance, and purchasing team. As a senior engineer at one of the leading research institutes in China, Shannon was bestowed a major honor for her accomplishments, when she was awarded the Silver Medal at the China New Products Fair in 1995. Her contributions and experience have included:

 

  • Management and oversight of all R&D projects in an organization comprised of eight research departments with 55 scientists and engineers.

  • Invention and development of a patented new metal-based material, along with its manufacturing process, that delivered equivalent performance at significantly lower cost than its replacement product. This material has become a commercially successful product.

  • Design, installation and certification of a multi-stage production line for the production of foil strips.

 

Shannon has a keen ability to utilize her engineering expertise, along with her applied R&D experience, to enable the manufacture and delivery of products that function as specified. She is multi-lingual, and has undergraduate and post-graduate degrees in mechanical engineering, materials engineering, and information technology.
